I LIVE IN WOODSTOCK and while Woodstock is known for a kind of “ euphoric love ” found in a certain kind of brownie – I don’t go there.
The theobromine found in chocolate is said to fulfill those craving when one is not embroiled in love and having a passionate love affair.
I’ve noticed that an intense chocolate brownie covers that ragged gap during the “valen-time-less” days to come.
SAINTLY VALENTINE BROWNIES
Use the best chocolate and unsalted butter available.
64% dark chocolate- 8 ounces chopped
Unsalted Butter- 6 tablespoons
Salt- ¼ teaspoon
Vanilla- ¼ teaspoon
Sugar- ¾ cup
Flour- 1/3 all purpose
Walnuts- ½ cup toasted pieces
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
Melt the butter, turn off the heat and dissolve the chocolate in it
Beat the eggs with the sugar and incorporate with the mix
Stir in the Sifted flour and salt
Add the walnuts
Bake at 325 for 15-20 minutes
Brownies will appear soft
Chill completely before cutting
Makes 16 – two inch brownies
