Chocolate Parties

Tasting lectures, workshops and children’s parties are held in the chocolate studio in Rhinebeck, NY (18 West Market St. - located in the center of the village) and can be booked privately.

Lectures can be held in the chocolate studio or at another location:

The cost is $40 per person minimum with 10 people attending the lectures listed below:

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE - learn how cacao grows around the equator, is harvested, and made into the chocolate we know, and then taste five chocolate from five regions. The second part of the presentation features Oliver Kita’s “behind the scenes” pictorial tour of the top shops of Paris.  Wine pairing available.

THE PERFECT PAIR? - CHOCOLATE & WINE - learn how cacao grows around the equator, is harvested, and made into the chocolate we know, and then learn to taste chocolate from five regions along with five wines deciding which match or contrast in taste.

THE ROMANCE OF CACAO  - a wholesome risqué experience including the sensational and seductive history of chocolate in love, art, healing, and cooking. Oliver Kita “dishes the dirt” on the historical and provocative path of chocolate tracing from the Mayan culture to the royal courts of Europe.  The lecture includes a detailed tasting experience with varying shades & percentages of white, milk and dark chocolate, exploring evocative cacao, and offers a helpful “sparkling street-wise“ vocabulary list of chocolate’s sensual qualities. Wine pairing available.

Cost is $40 per person who create and take home handmade bars.  Each attendee has the opportunity to observe how chocolate is tempered (manipulated), to taste chocolate and to add “inclusions” otherwise known as toppings or add-ons such as nuts, cacao nibs, toffee, peppermint or dried fruits onto their bars.  The session lasts about 40 minutes and requires one hour of time to attend from arrival to clean up.

Renting the studio for children’s chocolate birthday parties is a natural fit for parents searching for an unusal venue. The studio is a fantasy land for children featuring cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and ice cream. Cost to be determined based on the length of the party and guest count.

Says Kita,  “ I love the personal moments with people who are in interested in tasting, playing and learning about chocolate. It’s delightful when they are enthusiastic, tasting delicious chocolate and … get messy”.
